Do People Still Buy These???
They were proudly displayed out front of a store in Venice Beach CA.
Everyone at my super stylish college (William and Mary) had these....back in 1987!!!!!!!!!!
What? Tell me, is it retro? Or is it just a Venice Beach (read: stoner) thang???
I think I might rather carry this!
um...then again, hand me that straw-like half moon bag, I'll survive...
So, what kinda bag are YOU carrying this season? this year????? Is it as big as you are??????
Cheers!

Hi there! I found a bag I must have at the department store the other day, will have to wait for payday however. ;-) Big leather tote. Heh.
good for you (waiting until you have cash in hand) c.a.Marks!! I really wish I've seen something I want, I'm jealous!
(and thanks there for being on the sidebar on your blog - how sweet is that???)
Maybe it's a beach thing? Like they sell the to tourists who go to the beach but forgot a bag at home? I know I bought a dorky bag for that reason in Hawaii. ::shrugs:: That's the only thing I can think of (they are pretty hideous).
It is a beach thing. I live in Malibu, and woven bags are still perfectly acceptable for carrying your towel and sunscreen if you're not fortunate to live on the beach. BTW, I have trouble believing WIlliam & Mary has ever been stylish.
Ha Ha Cindy! That W&M "stylish" comment was HIGH sarcasm......
aahhh, and made me recall my obsession with the super tan Malibu Barbie!! (but we're all just jealous of where you live!!)
I sold this before, long time ago, at my little store. it is amazing that they are still hung there for sale.
I just pulled one of these out of my closet for a garage sale. I had been holding on to it for no apparent reason other than I couldn't get rid of it-until I saw this blog. We all need someone to tell us how out of style we are at one time or another. THANK YOU!
Works for the beach although I would pick different colors for myself. I grew up in Malibu and drove through yesterday on my way to a dance jam in Santa Monica. Malibu was an awesome place to grow up! We bought a beach house out there in '59. Rustic, artistic, all beachy. The Buffalo Springfield were my neighbors and Neil young used to hang out there. I was dancing at their house when I was 9. I used to play with squirt guns with Richie Havens. Nostalgia time!
Debbylouise -sorry to support the hoarding tendancy there... : )
DD - NOT fair. I so miss dance classes in L.A. I love L.A. people, they are so friendly!!!
