How The SuperBowl is like your Wedding Night
It's SuperBowl Weekend! And much of America will be watching on Sunday.
But is the SuperBowl the "ultimate" football game?
I think not. I think The SuperBowl is more like your Wedding Night.
There is a huge season leading up to it with games, and planning, and "practice"
And then on "the night" it can't always live up to all the expectations.
I've been on the field for a SuperBowl Game. I was a Washington Redskins Cheerleader when the team went to SuperBowl XXVI. (puleeaaase -I beg you not to do the math on that...)
It was most definitely VERY exciting. But the best game?
I think the best game was....
At home.
In our homey RFK Stadium.
It was a one of the last two games before playoffs.
And the crowd was SO excited because they knew we were going to playoffs.
Everyone in the stadium knows each other
Season ticket-holders have been together for years, decades, even generations.
And you could FEEL the power, excitement and fun.
And the whole stadium "shook."
I think the crowd did "The Wave" at least half the game....no one sat down at all.
It seemed to last forever.
It was INCREDIBLE.
Sound more like a recipe for a great night? Sure does to me!!
The SuperBowl? I wonder if its the best game for the players...??
Cheers! Heidi

I love this blog....very laid back, and everyone gets to say what they want without any of the annoying know-it alls found on the other blogs. My complements, ladies.
Anyway, my wedding night was like the Super Bowl. I thought I was going to lose my virginity on my wedding night, but it was all for naught....we couldn't close the deal....I'll leave it at that. Just like the Super Bowl, with all of the build up, but none of the expectations met.
Cheers
Wow - Donny Dog -- you and I must be the only ones who feel that all the other nights are MUCH better than the 'big night' : )
I just read a sportswriter's column about how he was not going to the Superbowl this year for the first time in years because he wanted to actually WATCH THE GAME for a change. Maybe he's into 'watching' instead of 'doing'??
We didn't do IT on the "big night" either. We had reserved a number of rooms in the Marroitt hotel the night of our wedding for out of town guests. One of the guys standing up in our wedding had flown in the morning of the wedding and was going to fly out the next morning. Unknown to me, my groom had told that guy he could crash in our room for the night (we had two beds). Even though our friend offered to go into the bathroom for the ten minutes it would take to consumate our marriage, I said no. It didn't bother me that we had company that night. I was happy to be married to my love and looking forward to our honeymoon. Now, 15 years later it's a good story.
Wrong.
Absolutely wrong.
The stupid bowl is like your first line of coke at 7:30 a.m.!
My wedding night with my second husband was much better than my wedding night with my first husband. With my second one, I wasn't expecting to get any and I was okay with that, but he decided that he wanted to consumate our marriage and it was pretty great. Of course, we never have had bad sex... but the relationship is still young!
