Why you need to watch the Grammy Awards!

I LOVES me a good award show. But I usually skip the Grammy Awards - I don't know half the bands and so many of them sound like noise and HEY! YOU KIDS! GET OFFA MY LAWN AND TURN YOUR CRAZY ROCK N ROLL MUSIC DOWN!

This year, the greatest rock band of all time (you heard me - OF ALL TIME) is reuniting on February 11 to open the Grammy Award show, perhaps in advance of announcing a reunion tour.

Ladies and Gentlemen, get ready because THE POLICE ARE OPENING THE GRAMMYS!!!

Police3.jpg

In case they're still trying to decide whether or not to go on tour, here's an open letter to the greatest rock band of all time, ever:

Dear Sting, Stuart and Andy:

I can't wait to see you on the Grammys!

It must be very difficult to decide whether or not to go on tour to celebrate the 30th anniversary of your hit single, "Roxanne." In case you were wondering, I'm fully confidant that you'd sell out any size arena you play (ka-ching!). But I'm writing for selfish reasons.

You last played my hometown (Boston) in 1983. I was a freshman in high school, and I already had all of your albums (Literally - Albums. As in, vinyl. Shut up, I am not OLD!). Some people I knew were going to see your concert at the Boston Garden, but you were playing on a school night and my parents wouldn't let me go. One of the guys who went got me a t-shirt from your show, which I wore until it literally fell apart.

I've had a wonderful, full, fun, exciting life. My ONLY regret is that I never got to see you play live!

PLEASE GO ON TOUR AND MAKE MY DREAMS COME TRUE!

Love from your #1 fan,
Lara

So, who's your favorite band of all time? And did you miss seeing any groups when you were a kid??

Cheers & rock on, Lara

This is kind of a no-brainer, isn't it? The only correct answer is Bruce and E Street Band.

No further comments or explanations are needed.

PS--I'm pretty sure Sting is gay

DD- The Boss? For real? And I don't think Sting is gay, I just think he's really, really open minded.

I'm a Police girl. And I love Sting. I never saw the Police in concert but I've seen Sting twice. Both were great.

DD you think everyone is gay. I think you're gay!

Holy Shit! The Police are reuniting? That is so cool! I am definately watching the grammys.

By the way, it's Sting's fault that the E-Street Band broke up. He told Bruce how great it was to wrk solo, etc. I saw Bruce and the E-street band 10 times when they got back together in 2000.

My very first concert - The Police! I was in the 7th grade, and my friend's mom took us. Could that have been 25 years ago???? God, I hope not.

I am a huge Bruce Springsteen fan too. I have great memories of camping out all night in front of a record store just to get Bruce tickets. And I loved Van Halen back in the David Lee Roth days. I hear they're thinking of touring again too. Hope Dave doesn't pull out the spandex. It will be fun to see the Police together again.

Hey Lara! I think you were!!

Posted by suzy on January 31 at 08:45am

yes, lara ~ i think we were indeed separated at birth...

although i won't claim that my taste was always good, some of my all-time favorites have included the police (of course), duran duran, inxs and u2.

Today i still drag suzy to shows -- though they're more along the lines of the subways and lily allen -- and she's a good sport :)

Suzy's big sis - If we were separated at birth, then you got all the cool genes. I've barely heard of the subways and lily allen...thanks for bringing some street cred to the blog!!

THIS HAS TO BE THE WORST GRAMMY AWARDS SHOW EVER.. YES, RED IS A COLOR TO HELP THOSE W/AIDS IN AFRICA. BUT IS THAT WHY THE STAGE IS RED?
THE TRIBUTES ARE STUPID, I WOULD RATHER SEE MORE WINNERS...
WATCHING CARRIE UNDERWOOD SING 4 SONGS AND CHRISTINA AGULERASINGS ONE.

WHO IS DIRECTING THIS TRAVESTY, BORAT?
NEVER BEFROE HAVE I SEEN SO MANY UNKNOWN AND UNNAMED PERFORMERS WHO COME ON WITH OTHER UNAMED PERFORMERS NOT EVERYONE KNOWS WHO IMOGEN HEAP (AND HER GRASS HAIR-DO) IS.

DID ANYONE CATCH UNDERWOOD WITH A BOTTLE OF WATER WAKLING TO HER SEAT WHILE SMOKEY WAS SINGING?

I GIVE UP...NO MORE GRAMMYS FOR ME.

A SUGGESTION FOR NEXT YEAR ..
ANNOUNCE THE NOMINEES AND MAKE THE WINNER SING. THATS IT..NO TRIBUTES TO A MILLION
PEOPLE WHO ONLY GET TO BOW TO THE AUDINECE OR ARE ALREADY DEAD.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.
AND GOD HELP US IF ANOTHER RAP WINNER THANKS HIM/HER...THE REASON THEY THANK GOD IS BECAUSE THE RAPPER IS STILL ALIVE, (HASN'T BEEN SHOT YET.

SAVE THE TRIBUTES FOR PBS
THIS IS A AWARD SHOW FOR THE NOMINEES AND WINNERS.

2007 GRAMMY AWARDS SUCKED!

DID THEY GIVE OUT ANY AWARDS?
OR JUST GIVE OUT TRIBUTES TO DEAD PEOPLE?

AND LET NO NAME PERFORMERS SING W/O ANNOUNCING WHO THEY WERE.
CHRIST I AM SEEING RED...WAS THAT DUE TO THE AIDS BONO CHARITY? OR DID THEY LIKE RED.

I CERTAINLY WAS SEEING RED.
AWARDS SHOWS ARE TO SEE THE NOMINEES AND THE SUSPENSE OF WINNING..

ENOUGH WITH THE TRIBUTES.

SO WHO WON WHAT..
ME!

sad, sad, sad, the Dixie Chicks get rewarded by the grammy officials while the winners of those rewards remain in thier seats. I guess I perfered to live with blinders on, never knowing only the chosen ones will bet the reward, not the real winners. Which seems quite odd when they are not American's choice.
