Rachel Ray has a ... what now???

Rachel Ray has all those cookbooks, tv shows, a magazine, a line of cookware, her picture is on Ritz cracker boxes, and now...a Christmas Album?? Really? I get that her fans are as loyal and devout as Martha Stewart's fans. But music too?? Does this woman sleep??

I'll admit, I've tried like hell to be a Ray-ette. I LIKE her perkiness. My mom suggested one of her cookbooks and I tried but I'm just not feeling it. There's always one ingredient I can't stand (ew, cilantro!) or something about the recipe just doesn't sit right with me. So I just admire her rise to fame and wonder ... who buys all her stuff and watches all her shows on tv? Do they also get the magazine and buy Ritz and who knows what all?

Now, I'm not a hater, like those people who started the "I hate Rachel Ray" blog. Those people have too much time on their hands and wow - they hate someone soooo much that they started a blog??

I'm just in awe at the empire Rachel Ray is building - all the while seeming like the girl you want to hang out with and knock back a couple of adult beverages with during Happy Hour.

Anyway -- here's the album cover:

No, Rachel Ray doesn't sing, too - it's a collection of Christmas songs by people like Elvis Presley and Billie Holiday. I don't know much about the Christmas music, but it seems interesting to me! You can see what's on the album here.

Cheers, Lara

Oh, this is not okay.

At least she doesn't sing. Praise Baby Jesus for small mercies.

ummm, thank you. cilantro isn't my cuppa either. it seems like it'd be more fitting as some sort of astringent or facial mask/sinus cleansing ingredient.
as for rr - i don't get it. but more power to her, i'm happy for another woman to be making some dough in the big leagues.

Do all the songs have a Food theme?
1. Chestnusts Roasting...
2. We Wish you a merry christmas (verse: now bring us some figgy pudding)
etc.??

We have a Rachael Ray cookbook and have tried a few recipes. We always end up altering them and cut out things we don't like, so I have no idea what the recipe was SUPPOSED to end up like.

But I agree, I don't know who buys all this stuff, but kudos to her for making it work. I felt that same way about Martha. I heard that Rachael Ray is going to be coming out with a line of home textiles next and a burger restaurant in NYC. Seriously, there is no way the woman ever sleeps.

I agree! She must be very busy and she is very successful. Although I don't like a lot of the recipes... especially with cilantro in it! :)

Cilantro is awesome! Do you not like salsa?

Posted by Teri on December 07 at 08:44pm

Teri - I love salsa, but finding salsa without cilantro is VERY hard. The Mango Salsa at Costco is pretty good, and the supermarket brand seems to skip it, too. I don't know why I hate cilantro so...I'm an adventurous eater!!

Hey Lara, Are we twins separated at birth or what? First I find out that Joy Behar is you favorite "View"-ette (but with Rosie a VERY close second), and now I am with you totally on the Rachel Ray phenom. She gets lotsa snaps in my book for her perkiness and business smarts, but I'm just not feeling it enough to down the Kool-Aid. (But for sure she'd be more fun to hang out with in real like than Martha.)

Where did this chick come from....I saw her on the Food Channel with one show, then she had two, then three....then bam there she is taking over Tony Danza's spot on daytime TV with a What?...Talk Show? ....

First off, she is cute...but way too damn loud for morning TV...she needs to take it down a couple of notches. Christ, she makes Rosie ODonnel seem like a poised lady....

Second...she cooks...that what she does...that is what made her famous...Right?...so why all the other crap to fill up the hour... In my opion it would be a much more 'watchable' show if it were a guest and chat then cooking...cause that is what she does best...talk and cook.

Keep it simple...Rach! and SHHHHHHH!

I agree with everything whysweatsmallstuff says and in addition could she PLEASE keep that hair pulled back so it doesn't end up in all the food she's cooking. It's always swinging around the food and she tosses her head all the time! I hate eating hair and when I watch her that's all I think of. She apparently thinks that's one of her best attributes but keeping it out of her face and the food would be great! Also, maybe with all her advisors, could she revise her wardrobe a little so she doesn't look soooooooo dumpy??

not liking cilantro is rumored to be a genetic thing - the enzymes in it cause an adverse reaction in some people (taste/smells like metal, soap, batteries, etc.) Basically, you may be programmed to love it or hate it.

OH NO, Say it isn't so! Rachel Ray has a Christmas album? How? Where is the logic in that? She's a cook! WTF!

By the way....Love cilantro - hate RR! It's fab that she's a woman making money, but I'd rather watch Emo Philips cook than sit through even 5 minutes of her TV shows. Gag me with a spoon.
