Would this turn you green, too?

I know this is wrong. It's discrimination. It's sexism of the worst kind. But it creeped me out and I can't help it.

Yesterday I went to have a manicure/pedicure. I tried a new nail salon on the chi-chi street in downtown Boston (Newbury Street, if you're familiar with the area). I was excited to relax for a little while and walk out with pretty fingers and toes!

Instead of having a lovely lady help me out with my twinkle toes, I wound up with a lovely GUY. I found it really uncomfortable and a little creepy. I felt green about it. Is that wrong? Has anyone else been in that situation?

Note: He did a great job, but in the future...I think I'll stick to the ladies.

Have a great weekend!

Cheers, Lara

I happen to live in Boston also. I was surprised to hear that a guy worked on your feet. I, too, would find that uncomfortable. The same way I would not want a massage from a male.

I am a weekly regular at my salon and have been to numerous others. I have had guys work on my nails. Its normal to be uncomfortable about it, but you will find they do just an equal job as the ladies. It doesnt bother me at all as long as they come out looking great!

when i go to a nail salon to get my nais done its usually a guy. he actually does better job and more dedication to it than any girl has. thats what he choose to do to make money and if hes happy with the job than you should be proud of him not uncomfortable.

I go to a vietnamese salon, and the young son of the family (he's probably 20) is my favorite. He's meticulous and we get a nice chat in.

That would creep me out. I love the nail salon for girl talk and a place for the ladies to chat. A dude there kind of ruins that atmosphere and the comfort.

There are alot of orientals that own nail salons in the Atlanta area and often times they have some men working there as well as women. The shop owner is a male and many women request him because he does such a wonderful job on their nails. I do not feel uncomfortable at all with a guy doing my nails as long as they turn out looking great.

No that definatly wouldn't make me green. It seems to me that as long as my manicure/pedicure came out as expected I wouldn't worry about the gender of the proffessional. (Remember they are professionals). Often when I get my hair done which is very similar, I think, I have had much better luck with male stylists. Also on a side note it is scientifically proven that men have slightly better dextarity then women an advantige I wouldn't mind at all whn getting my nails done. So my advice to all would be try it a few times and see how it goes after giving it a fair shake prefferance is nothing to be ashamed of..............
Good Luck Sistahs!!!!!!!!!!

Recently I overheard an intersting conversation that stuck in my mind@ work , besides shared remarkable conincidence of a friend of mine. I want to ask a coworker if his conversation by any chance could be realted directly to a friend? I want so much to ask directly as the world is so much smaller then we realize with numerous inter -relationships- but I have not had the guts to ask. This is a colleague , this is not a close friend id be asking. So I have to approach gingerly in a careful manner,in case I make afool of myself. I want to take the , even if i make a fool of myself..Bottom line I believe there may be a connection with my colleague and a wonderful gentle man I met last year in Ca.( lost track of).Lifes too short to live in fear any longer. I am determined to say something soon. Your suggestions ideas pls.
