Skip the mandals, please!!

Happy Summer everyone!! Bust out the white clothes 'cause a new season is upon us!

Now ladies, we need to take care of something. This means all of us, working together, to try to improve our lives and the lives of all the men we know. We need to get men to stop wearing open-toed sandals.

I suggest blast emails, billboards, jumbotron messages, a little post-it on their bathroom mirror - any method that will get this message across:

DUDE - DO NOT WEAR MANDALS - OR ANY SHOE THAT EXPOSES YOUR TOES - ANYWHERE OTHER THAN THE BEACH.

Your toes are not fit for our consumption. Even if you got a pedicure, like a guy I know who actually got clear gloss on his toes (straight man, too - very disorienting to see the sheen of nail polish on a guy's toes! But I digress...).

My mother always said that a woman shouldn't wear open-toed shoes to work because all of her power would slip out her feet. I believe her, and I believe it applies to men, too.

Anyone disagree with the mandal ban??

Cheers, Lara

Oh, thank you, thank you! I've been trying to get my guy to loose the mandals ever since we met. I don't have the heart to tell him that the sight of his feet make me shudder every time I see them wrapped in the faux leather bands that are mistakenly called 'men's footwear'. Let's take Lara's advice and unite on the mandal ban!

yes, completely. the only thing that's worse is when they compound the mandal with SOCKS! ugh!

Agreed with above. Whoever started the socks with sandals look needs to be beaten to death with his mandals. I find it hard to believe that people actually go out in public like that, since it's a look that is so widely made fun of - like the mullet - whenever I see someone with one I think that it either has to be a joke or the person lost a bet.

I think mandals are all right. Hey, if they feel comfortable in them then there is no problem. You don't have to look!

Call me strange, weird, whatever - but I disagree... I think guys in sandals are hot, as long as they don't have totally disfigured toes/toenails/feet. Pedi those feet and it's all good! But then again, I live in Canada and wear bear feet (around the house) and sandals (outdoors) from March to October (and in Canada, that is probably 5 or 6 months too long)

Leave the men alone. He should be able to feel comfortable going somewhere casual without the need to be judged a higher power of fashion fascists. Women trying to control everything their man wears is just as bad as a man trying to control everything a woman wears; it is bad enough you dress him to go to work!
